We are always looking for dedicated volunteers.  Volunteers are a large part of our program and add to the success of our program.  They bring an extra spark of energy to the staff and students.  Together we work to create a fun and educational environment for students all year long.  Volunteering is also a great way to gain community service hours, add to a resume or school application, make new friends, gain new skills, and help others. We hope you’ll join our team!

SUMMER CAMP 2024

The camp dates this year are July 3rd to August 16th, 2024.

Age Requirement: At least 16 years old by the start of camp (7/3/2024)
Morning shift is 8:00AM to 1:00PM. 
Afternoon shift is 1:00PM to 6:00PM.


You must be able to work the full week Monday to Friday in one of those shifts.   

For those of you who aren't familiar with us, our camp is filled with cute kids, fun activities, central air conditioning, staff social outings, field trips and shenanigans. COLOR WARS IS BACK and better than ever!! All camp counselors are divided up into teams to compete in ridiculous events and win prizes. Events will force you to compete in a variety of challenges that will test your creativity, athleticism, intellectual wit, and oral presentation abilities.  If you're a shy quiet type of person that gets embarrassed easily, this may not be the best place for you.

Job Description:

Teachers Assistant (TA): You will be assigned to a group of children and assist the head teacher of that class in whatever way they might need your help.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; tutoring individual students, checking over homework, ensuring safety of all children, taking attendance, making copies, cleaning, etc....

SYEP - SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

You should also apply to the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) at https://application.nycsyep.com/default.aspx before their deadline. If you get selected you will be paid $16.00/hr for 6 weeks up to 25 hours per week.  

We are working with CPC-QUEENS and COMMONPOINT QUEENS/SAMUEL FIELD YM & YWHA this summer as our providers. MAKE SURE YOU select QUEENS as the borough.

*Please note you must be 16-24 years old as an SYEP applicant to work at CAPA Summer Camp through CPC-Queens or Commonpoint Queens Provider.
