PS 244 CAPA SUMMER CAMP 2024
This year we will be opening camp at our PS 244 location. We hope to see many familiar faces back again this summer! We are waiting for updates about our PS 24 location but more updates to come in March. The camp will be operating across 7 weeks with a balanced mixture of academic enrichment and recreational activities.
Summer camp registration will be open to RETURNING campers a week earlier, on Friday February 23rd. Registration will be open to the general public on March 1st. Enrollment is first come, first serve. There will be a early bird discount for all parents who sign up between February 23rd and March 31st.
BASIC SUMMER CAMP DETAILS
Camp Dates: July 3 to August 16, 2024, Monday through Friday (Must register for the full camp duration)
Camp Location: 137-20 Franklin Ave, Flushing NY 11355
Tuition Cost:
$1800 - Regular day
$350 - Extended day for morning campers (EXCLUDING PRE-K)
$125 - Trip fees for 5 field trips (Movie, Prismatic Light Show, Hall of Science, School Carnival, and last trip TBD)

Referral Discount:
For each new student you refer, you will receive $100 credit for any future CAPA programs. For the new family, they will have their child's one time registration fee waived at signup.
At the time of registration, please remind your friend to indicate your child's name in the section that asks how you heard about us.
Grades (in September 2024): Pre-Kindergarten - 6th grade

Daily Schedule:
8:15am to 9:00am - Arrival and Breakfast
9:00am to 3:00pm - Academics, Lunch, Recess and Two Recreational Activities
3:00pm - Regular Day Dismissal
Free Breakfast and Lunch provided by DOE Summer Meals Program
Extended Day:
3:00pm to 3:30pm - Snack Time
3:30pm to 5:30pm - Recreational Activities
5:30pm to 6:00pm - Dismissal
Afternoon snack provided by CAPA (you can also provide your own meals and snacks)
MORNING ACADEMICS
Morning academic classes are taught by professional licensed teachers who provide a rich educational environment and prepare students for the upcoming school year. Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Math are the main fundamental blocks, but other subjects will be explored throughout the summer. 3rd grade to 6th graders will also learn test taking strategies designed to help them excel on the ELA and Math Statewide exams. There will be daily homework assigned as well as a progress report given out at the end of the session.
EXTENDED DAY
Activities would include a variety of sports, track and field, STEM, team building exercises, engineering, science experiments, group play and challenges, and of course loads of arts and crafts. A (wrapped) snack will be provided daily but children can bring their own as well.
TRIPS
There will be a total of 5 fields trips camper can go on this summer. We will be going to the movies, a school carnival, a prismatic light show, Hall of Science, and our last trip location is still in the works but will be announced later. Other than the light show and carnival, we will be taking the yellow school buses to the rest of the field trips.
These trips are optional for an additional cost. If you sign your child up to go on trips, you are signing them up for ALL trips within their age groups.
Health forms
All students MUST hand in a copy of their health form dated after 8/17/2023. This must be handed in before May 1st, 2024.
Students who do not have a health form will not be allowed to attend camp until they have given an updated copy.
Early Bird Registration
For the whole month of March (March 1st - March 31st), we will be offering all students an early bird discount of $150.
